Transient Heavens
“Transient Havens” is a 14×14 encaustic painting that reflects my Cree-Métis perspective on the urgent issue of global warming. This abstract piece uses layered textures and colors to convey the profound effects of climate change on our natural world.
The painting features a horizontal orientation with circular forms that evoke nests, symbolizing both shelter and the fragility of our environment. These gold-tinged circles represent the delicate balance of ecosystems threatened by rising global temperatures.
In the middle section, muted whites and grays, interrupted by cracked patterns, capture the instability and disruption facing ecosystems due to climate change. This visual break highlights the tension between natural equilibrium and environmental stress.
The vibrant greenish-yellow hues in the lower section suggest a life-affirming, mossy landscape, emphasizing the urgent need to protect our planet’s vitality. The subtle inclusion of an owl symbolizes wildlife whose habitats are shrinking as a result of global warming.
“Nestled Echoes” invites viewers to reflect on the critical impact of climate change on wildlife and ecosystems, urging action to combat environmental degradation. Through this piece, I aim to inspire awareness and a commitment to a sustainable future, blending my cultural heritage with contemporary environmental concerns.
