The Journey Home
Encaustic Mixed Media
32” H x 24” W x 6” D
This encaustic sculpture is the first in a series, created in honor of the 215 Indigenous children found in a mass grave at the Kamloops Residential School in British Columbia.
From the earth where the children lay, Mother Nature grew—her branches and vines stretching upward, creating swings for them to climb and play. She lifted them gently, watching as they reached the highest branches, ready to take flight and begin their journey home.
This piece is part of both the Unearthed Series and Sculpture Series.
