Wâhkôhtowin
Only one available, this original 30×40″ Encaustic painting by Artist Amanda Pierce has been created on a 1.5″ thickness gallery wood frame using encaustic medium and pigments.
From the series MY DNA IS OF EARTH AND SKY.
Wâhkôhtowin pronounced woe-hee-tow-won is a Cree word and translates to “Cree laws”, but law is almost invariably referred to as wâhkôhtowin, which means “kinship” everything is connected, everything is related.
“Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”
– Chief Seattle
This piece has texture built up on top of textures; gold threads have been looped in and around the shapes and now dangle freely from the art piece it’s self. Broken mirror, rusted nails, gold leaf and papers with music notes have been imbedded into the wax, gouges, markings and patina’s. This piece is full of story telling and dimension.
Encaustic, pigment, gold leaf, nails, foil, mesh and thread.
